bad O2 Sensor...
#1
Can a bad O2 sensor(s) cause the engine to run at a lower than normal rpm at idle?
My girl just had her starter changed and they said the reason why the car sometimes runs at 200rpm at idle is cause the O2 sensors are bad....
also the check engine has not gone on which doesn't make sense since it should on if the sensor is indeed bad.
Thanks in advance.

Humm....
well...I am not an expert..but let me try to help..
when you said you are idling at 200 rpm....isn't that kinda low?..wouldn't your engine sputter like crazy and eventually it might just stop running?
check engine light should come on when your sensor dies...unless it got reset...
Bad O2 sensor = bad mileage because you are running rich and thus ruining your Cat Conv....
so if you experience very poor gas mileage than usual...and your exhaust fume smells more like fuel....you know something is wrong....
other than that...I would recommend getting a reading from the check engine code.
Ok people...enlight us with the answer to this problem.
Thank you..
