My car just turned 50k miles, and I got it at 35k so I figured that instead of just draining the fluid in the tranny (it's an auto) I would get it flushed. WOW! It made a noticable difference in my car. My 1-2 shift used to be pretty hard and now it's really smooth. Also, with overdrive in and a downshift in my auto it was a pretty hard jerk into gear. Now everything seems completely smooth. I think it was definately worth the $75.

I took it to jiffy lube and a funny thing happened. The guy comes in and tells me he couldn't find my air filter to see if it was dirty. I told him that I have a Cold air intake and that I already cleaned it, he had no clue what I was talking about, so I showed him and he was in amazement.

After I bought my '96 Max (w/ automatic trans) used w/ 40,000 miles I noticed that the shift from 1st to 2nd was a little harsh. I even took it to Nissan for a free inspection because I was concerned. They said it was o.k. I found out that the previous owner had it serviced at the dealer and the records indicated it got a trans fluid "change" at about 30,000 miles. At 60,000 miles I drained the automatic trans fluid, removed and CLEANED the pan and refilled w/ the same amount of fluid I drained. About half of the fluid came out (5 - 6 quarts. The old fluid was bright and shiny red and had no smell (a good sign). ODDLY, I immediataly noticed the 1st to second gear shift was buttery smooth! It still is at 85,000 miles. I used Castrol brand fluid. Don't ask me why!
