I just received a custom pre filter from a company called Outerwears. K&N referred me to them. They make an ultra thin polyester material with micron sized pores that slips over the filter and keeps out mud dust and water. This material is water repellent not water proof. I put mine on today and it fits perfect. You tell them your filter size and they make it and send it out in a day or so. My K&N filter measured 7" diam. by 6" tall and their pre filter cost $14.05. They told me it should last a year under "normal" driving.
