2003 6 Spd Maxima, installed Sprints and drove it on the freeway, pictures inside

Today I was anxious to go to the battle of the imports @ commerce dragway. So I decided to pick up SMX's 2K3 and install some sprint springs. Got the keys to his new 2K3 drove it to my house which was about 15 miles. Car rides nice, shifter is pretty notchy but one can use to that. On my way over I forgot I had a 6th gear so I was on the freeway in 5th gear, I was not driving fast so it really didnt matter. The car didnt handle that great either but the ride was very soft but thats not a problem because 1 hour and 20 mins later I fixed that problem. The clutch is as soft as butter but yet grips pretty good. On my way back to his job upon his request I was on the freeway it opened up and I punched it in third and the car pulls all the way to 6600RPMs. That was a request from the owner. Very beautiful car. I wish it had return fuel because this car with a blower will be up there with the new powerful V8's, never the less I am happy I gave him back his car because the new car smell will make you go to the dealer and pick one up.

here is a stock comparison of springs, sprint to stock also note do not cut the rear springs 2k2-2k3 guys leave them alone they will make the car sit evenly.

You think I am fast Sprint hes got me beat after figuring out how to get to the rear struts it was all down hill from there. I use a technique that I would not recommend no new beginner to do when removing the springs and also you will need a impac wrench to do that

thats it. Dont do it if you dont know what your doing, it will hurt you pretty bad. I always tell people when they are here dont try this at home. A stock front civic shock has shot the furthest out of all the installs I have done.

Thats some scary **** man, I have had a spring let go on me be4 as well and luckly it just got jammed in the sheild on the compressor. Ive seen it happen be4, it shoot out and it just grazed my fathers head and left a 2" mark with a bad bruise that went away after a few days. Lucky Is all i have to say. If it was at 1+ degree angle more toward his head, it would have taken a chuck of skull out. That sound is something I dont think I can 4get. The rears are ok to remove with the 1/2" impact gun but I dont think I will try that with the fronts which I will still use a compressor on. You have to compress the hell out of that thing.

I almost took my foot out one time when installing them on a wall mounted spring compressor, the spring slipped and slammed so hard against the floor it made alot of noise scaring the living daylights out of me. This was at a shop there were about 15 people in the shop at the time. Everyone stopped and one tech came up to me to render assistance. I was drenched in sweat from that experience. That was in 1999 when I first started my own work in New Orleans. But thats why I dont brag about that nor do I post about it. Lots of shops do that but dont speak about it. Hope no one tries it. I am not scared of the front springs anymore so thats why I do it and I know what type of force to put on the shock when I am on top of it to release it w/the impact wrench.

So you can release the front springs w/o the compressor. Hmmm, I dont use it for the rear. I was gonna try the fronts with just the impact gun but I said screw it, better safe then sorry. Its not the lowerd coils the problem is with, its with the OEM spring thats like a foot in a half long.
