Kind of how like some people think their car runs smoother after they wash it. Total placebo affect.

And it does look like the hood doesn't fit.

What's the theory behind this again I'm confused... how in the world does this make your car run smoother?

It seems that most of you are ignoring aerodynamics.

The area at the base of the windshiel is a high pressure zone. Lifting up the rear edge of the hood will force air under the hood, not vent it out. I can only imagine what kind of havoc this would play with the air that's flowing in through the radiator area...

Kind of like those hoods on the old muscle cars.

i think this makes alot of sense, cuz if not why would alot of the euro car manufactures put vents on their hoods ie. benz, bmw and which other car companies i dont' know of.

I don't know of any manufactuer that lifts the rear of the hood in order to get more air movement. Like others have pointed out, the rear of the hood is a high pressure zone and when you lift open the hood a little, the pressure goes into the engine bay. Issues that can arise would be a slight lifting of the front end at higher speeds (ie lack of downforce, not good), turbulent air under the hood, air blow back through radiator (not good), and even the possibly of the hood trying to lift off the car. It's a rice mod.

Most hoodscoops on todays car aren't functional simply because they're in the wrong place on the hood and/or they'e facing the wrong direction. Like rear wings, most scoops are cosmetic.

i meant the vents, not lifting the hood.. i know that lifting the hood would cram air in there instead of venting it out, i was talkin' about hte concept =D... i remember that because in autoshop we fixed up a nova and had a huge reverse hood scoop that made it ram air =D.. i wanted to cut a slit or two on my hood to help vent it like how beamers do.

The hood spacers argument always reminded me of PC's vs Mac's

Some like it, others don't. Some think it serves a purpose, others don't.

IMO it may look like the car hit a wall and it never quite got fixed right, but in a way it works as cowl induction; which in theory should reduce temps. I can maybe see it beneficial for someone using a short ram/pop charge intake set up?

Either way I wouldn't do it on my 1st gen i30 seeing how the grill is a single piece with the hood. The grill would sit forward making the (fenderbender) damage look even worse.

Cheers on reviving a dead post

I find it funny he never posted pics either. I just removed the rubber seal at the top of the firewall and you get pretty much the same effect without the fender-bender damage look. I noticed yesterday the heat poor out from under my hood at a stop light. My temp gauge is also slightly less then where it use to be when driving on the highway.

Sure, if you have exhaust leaks under your hood.
