Fuel tank O ring?

I messed around with my fuel pump and I have read that I need to buy a new O ring. Is it important that the fuel tank is pressurized?

No smog until 2005. Any other reasons like "Your car can catch on fire" or something like that?

I am not sure what you are asking, if you are refering to why you need a new o-ring....I can tell you that when I changed the fuel filter on my car, I did not realize I would need a new one. When it can time to put everything back together, the o-ring had expanded and putting the cover back on was a b!tch. I ordered a new o-ring from DAVEB and during the waiting period I got a check engine light. I scaned the code and looked it up in the service manual and it had a lot of possible causes. But the last one refered to the o-ring and so once I replaced it and cleared the code, the light never came back on. Hope this helps.

well the o ring expands if it comes in contact with gasoline. If it still fits in the groove for the o ring ok, then you should be alright.

Otherwise, you're gas tank will try to build pressure, but because of the leak at the o ring, it won't, and you'll smell gas . Just change it while you're at it... it's 10 bux.
