I think you made a very wise decision. Go join the marines(or army or navy), have fun, experience the world, make new friends, grow more mature, and after you're done go to college full time for free with the GI Bill. Oh man what a nice country we live in. In korea, EVERY MALE has to serve for 3 years in the military when you turn 20 and they dont pay no college tuition..and they get beat up like dogs by their sargeants. no kidding. oh boy do we live in the greatest country or what??

Im in the Air Force National Guard, and an MP. Yeah its easier than most branches but we all do our part. I gotta say though, I give mad props to any Marine. Those guys are a great bunch of soldiers.
Good luck and stay focused. Think of basic as the worst hell you can imagine and you will be fine.

Cheesy Advice....

NISMOPower,

Even though I am leaving the Corps after 8 years (and 3 in the Army first), I have never regretted being a Marine. There are times you will be disappointed, angry, saddened, enraged, and perhaps even depressed. Especially during recruit training, but at other times as well, you will question your choice. Once in the Corps, you will see and experience things beyond your wildest imagination, both good AND bad. Be steadfast, do not lose heart, persevere, and you will do well. The rewards are intangible, but they are forever.

Semper Fidelis,
Alex
SSgt., USMC

P.S.- What option are you signing up for?
