It's definitely not good, but whether it's bad is another story. Topping off a gallon?? That's a lot. I usually get it to the nearest 25 cents.

You're not supposed to do that with the new vapor recovery nozzles they use now.

If you only take it up to the next quarter you'll be fine. A gallon is way too much.

I do and have done it on all of my cars no problems yet. I did it on my 93 Max until I gave it to my brother and it had 201,000 miles no probs.

I always top off. Ya know, you NEVER know when you'll need that extra .1 gallon to make it to the next gas station. I've run outta gas twice in my lifetime, it ain't fun... heheheh

Couldn't you just have easily stopped at the gas station you just passed a mile back instead?

I have always topped off my cars until I see the gas almost to the top of the fuel hole. I very rarely spill (I immediatly clean it) and have never had any problems. My first car, a '80 280Zx had 260,000 miles before i traded her in for $150 never ever had problems. (that car was a tank) I think this is like the bump stop thing, no one has ever had any problems but everyone says it is bad.

I always top my car off because i need every last drop to get back to the same gas station. I try to buy from them cos of the content, the fact that my car has been proven to run a whole lot better and get better mileage and that there is only one of that station and its on the outskirts of town. every last drop counts, i tell ya.
