I know what the MEVI does, and I know how it works. I also know the pros and cons, but yet I dont know one simple question. Where does it come from?????

It's not just for Middle Eastern Maximas. That's where it was discovered 1st from the maxima.org's point of view. It could have been a UKVI, JDMVI etc, I think even an Aussie VI as well because those region Maximas have it, too. All VIs came from Nissan Japan. It's a Nissan part.

Actually, the 3.0l VI for the 4th Gen has only been found in the Middle East/Africa markets....it definately is manufactured in Japan, however.

Everything I've heard and seen about other countries is the "35U" version (2.5l Engine), and does not work on the US VQ30DE.

If I'm wrong, someone point me to other info. People have looked (including myself) in New Zealand, Austrailia, and Thailand with no luck. Even in Japan, I think there is not actually a car with this on it.

Specifically, it is found on the Nissan Maxima GV. (As opposed to SE, GXE, or GLE here in the US)

Someone on this board from Brazil has a Maxima GV, but apparently the GV in South America does not have the VI. Only the GV in the Middle East/Africa market.

I know I saw a UK maxima with a VI. So you're saying that it was a VQ25DE and not a VQ30DE? I'm pretty sure it was the 3.0 because 3000cc Maximas were availble in Britain.

Yes, but the 3.0VI in Britain doesn't fit on the US Maxima....from what I know.

Look at Dave's car. It's a UK 4th gen 3 liter. How that does not fit US Maxima I don't know . . . . It looks identical.

I don't remember exactly what the difference was, and I don't have search....but there was some difference...I'm pretty sure.

I think maybe it was that the Throttle Body's are different....
