When it rains, it pours...ECU codes 0102, 0304, 0608, 0707; dead starter; funky HID's

I just passed the 100,000 mile mark, and all these probs popped up in a span of a day or two.

I was going WOT N/A the other day and all of a sudden, the car started to shake and the RPMS wouldn't keep steady. MIL starts BLINKING! I know it's a BAD prob when the MIL actually blinks. So the car limps home and I pull four codes:

0102 - MAF Sensor/Circuit (crap!)
0304 - Knock Sensor (eh..one of the other codes prob set this one off)
0608 - Cylinder 1 Misfire (DOUBLE CRAP!)
0707 - Rear O2 Sensor (don't really care about this one, it's come on before)

So yesterday, Turbo95Max and I pulled the plugs and discovered that number 1 cylinder plug had MELTED!! The curved metal strap was half gone. The other plugs looked fine (other than a green algae-color on the curved metal straps...anyone know what that means?) No sign of detonation on the ceramic parts. If anything, I would've thought that number 5 cylinder would be the worse, since I spray nitrous.

I should've known something was up cuz my AF gauge said I was running close to 14.0:1 N/A WOT, although my FP gauge does show I'm getting a steady 43psi N/A WOT.

I wonder what could've happened to the number one cylinder to cause the plug to melt. Lazy injector? broken injector? Gonna run some injector cleaner and hope the prob fixes itself.

And the MAF, I have no idea what's up with that...We were going to check the compression of each cylinder as well as the MAF but all of a sudden my starter began to make griding noises and eventually went completely dead. So, we can't check those until my new starter comes in. To top everything off, my driver's side HID has been occasionally cutting out (probably a loose connection somewhere).

Bad installation... ask for a refund from Turtle95Max's Chop Shop.

Maybe we can do a motor buildup group buy.

damn sorry Jeff
with the HIDs, mine does the same sometimes only one turns one, or one cuts out while I'm driving, I cant figure it out either I have everything in there installed, stupid relays that are supposed to prevent it...

see you guys soon I hope!!

Okay we installed new plugs & a new Bosch starter (started it a few times and everything is cool...starts almost immediately). We then checked compression and the MAF. Compression was good for every cylinder (thank goodness) but the MAF read really low voltage at high RPMs (should be ~4V; it read only ~2V). Perhaps that's why I'm running lean...anyway, gonna get a new MAF.

Let's see, we also determined that the knock sensor is bad...so I will have to get a new one as well.

Still dunno why the number one cylinder plug melted though...we put some fuel injector cleaner in the gas tank and will see what happens.

Ok, so I now want to move the car onto the driveway. IT WILL NOT START AGAIN!! It sounds really good the first one or two cranks, but then it starts grinding. SOUNDS LIKE A BAD STARTER....gonna get another one tomorrow...sheesh....this sucks.

Check you ground wire for the HIDs...it's usually that.

We put in the second new starter, and the car starts fine now.

Compression on all 6 cylinders is also good. However, we tested the voltage on the MAF, and determined that at high RPMS, it only gives ~2V rather than 4V like the factory service manual states. So, that may be the reason why I am running relatively lean N/A, but this still doesn't explain why my number one spark plug melted (still think it was an injector prob). Knock sensor is also bad.

Anyway, we changed all the plugs, ran some fuel injector cleaner, and will see what happens. Just waiting for my new MAF and KS.

Did you find the problem? The same thing happend to my cylinder #4. Are you running a fuel pressure regulator?

Tony, I have no idea what happened...I wasn't even spraying at the time. After changing the plugs and running 2 bottles of AMSOIL fuel system cleaner, the car has been running great. I got a new MAF, but it also reads 2Vs. I dunno man...

Yeah, I've been using a SARD FPR.
