Maxima and G35 in Consumer Reports

Just read the new article in Consumer Reports that rates the '04 Maxima and G35.

Here are their overall standings in the "Upscale Sedans" category:

1. BMW 330i, 2. Lexus IS300, 3. Lincoln LS, 4. M-B C320, 5. Lexus ES300, 6. Audi A4 3.0 Q, 7. Cadillac CTS, 8. Nissan Maxima 3.5 SE, 9. Acura 3.2TL S, 10. Infiniti I35, 11. Infiniti G35, 12. Jag X-Type 3.0, 13. Volvo S60 2.4T, 14. Saab 9-3 V, 15. Mitsubishi Diamante

The Max and G35 were both recommended, along with the IS300 and the Acura, for their sportiness.

Their take on the Maxima:
Pros: acceleration, accomodations, braking
Cons: ride, turning circle, torque steer, windshield reflections, gauges

Their take on the G35:
Pros: acceleration, engine and transmission, audio sound
Cons: controls, at-the-limit handling (even with stability control)

Not going to violate any more copyrights here today, go buy the magazine if you want the rest of the article.

I mean Jeez, it's just in front of the Jag.

And I'm pretty sure the G35 has to be better than the I35, let alone the Gen 6 Maxima. Come on now!

you didnt know that?!?! I mean it burns sooooooooooo much gas when its ldling warming up the engine, thats not good for it. I think i read you also have to redline it in every gear when its nice and cold too...

The sad thing is, if CR's put that in their magazine, people would follow it like a bible..

thats very true, but when it comes to things like crash ratings, i think i'll stick with consumer reports, when it comes to performance, they suck

Consumer Reports is not the magazine people like us should care about reviewing cars. They probably put the 6th gen Max over the G35 because it has more room and fwd for when it snows. They care more about the overal quality of the ride and the comfort than the actual performance.
