Hold onto or sell old rims (sawblades)...

I just got 17's put on the car last week so now my dilema is whether or not I should keep the sawblades in the basement or sell them? The sawblades have practically new tires on them (about 6K)...I hate the look of the sawblades, but don't know if it is worth trying to sell them. Please give your opinion as well as how much I could get for the sawblades (with tires) if anything (?)...thanks!

Depends...If you have bad winter's (lots of snow, salt, etc), then I suggest you swap them back on during the winter months....that is what I will be doing with my sawblades once I get new rims.

I live in Birmingham, Alabama so the winters aren't really an issue here; but if they were that would be excellent advise!

Hey, I'm in Birmingham too! I bought 17's to replace my sawblades and immediately sold my old rims. I havn't had any need for them and drove on my performance tires all winter. The only problem is that the 15's are now worth next to nothing. I think I saw some for sale in the SE forums the other day for $100. Anyway, good luck selling them if thats what you decide to do!

Cool, maybe I'll see you around and even better, you are for the RIGHT team!

That sucks that I am not going to be able to get anything for them, but I guess if I was looking to buy I wouldn't want to give much for them either as I think they are fugly!

What if some reason you decided to sell the car or get rid of it. What are you gonna put in it?

I decided to keep mine just in case something happens.

I am not going to sell my car, but if some unforseen circumstance comes up the 17's that are on the car will go with it...

I personally would hold on to them if you have the space. If you were to hit a pothole and bend a wheel or two it'd be nice to be able to slap your sawblades back on until you got replacements for the bent ones.

This just happened to my brother so he put his old stockers back on while the construction company was sending us a check for his new wheels. They didn't even come check the damage, just cut us a check.

You will actually probably get MORE money for your car if everything is totally stock, including the rims. You don't get too much for selling them so why not just stash them away in the basement...

I agree though... they are ugly.

Really...why oh why would someone give me more for Halle (my max) stock than the way she is now? What are these nutso's thinking??? Another very interesting and useful point...I knew that I could count on all the Maximaniac's to help me with this decision...

Let me put it this way...if I were looking to buy a used car, and it had even one mod on it, I would not touch it. Why? Because then the chances of the previous owner being an enthusiast and driving the **** out of his car are far greater....thats why people tend to buy totally stock cars. My car came from a 56 year old man with not one mod

I kept my sawblades for the track and if I ever decide to sell my max, I can stick them back on. Like you said, there is no demand for them and I rather keep them then sell them for practically nothing.

They make greak rims for slicks if you race even though I know you don't.

Yes, you know that I haven't raced it on the track yet...why would I...we go to the same track and I know for a fact that you will strap my @ss with your VI...but, just because she hasn't been raced on the track yet doesn't mean that she won't be! Besides, I have had much fun strapping some ricey @ss on 59/20 and 65!
