ok, when I replaced my bulbs behind the display.. i had to do the following:
remove the plastic cover around the steering wheel ( there are four screws underneath the part that has your ignition on it). i don't remember if i had to remove that panel bellow or not, i might have remover the mettal cover to the underside of the steering wheel too..
tilt the wheel down...
remove the two screws under the visor for the dials..
then pull... (you may want to pry out your cruise control on off switch and cabin dim lights switch, the pop right out if you get a screw driver under the little caps. this will give you a better vew of the inside there...
ok... now, you should see three screws holding your cluster panel thingie.. remove, and manouver the panel around your steering wheel ( i think i turned it upside down and then swung it up. i did not have to remove any connections... )
now you will have access to the back of the diaplay.
