Flex Section Failure Question.

Flex Section Failure Question.
well, lately my car feels a bit sluggish at upper rpms, doesn't feel like its revving quite as quick as it did before. Is there any signs of flex failure on the outside of the flex section, or is the only way to check to look inside it?
