Poor Max........Has anyone seen this?

Found this over at probe talk.........don't ask!

1:15am
I was on 894 heading west just passing the loomis Road overpass....
I am the only car on the freeway in view. Oncoming was a car going very fast. A little too fast. He was the only one in sight. Also attempting to maneuver around construction barrels at a high rate of speed in a car that ccould clearly not handle it.
I saw the rear end start to poke out on this car that was graced with a soft suspension... all of a sudden the wheels grip the road perpendicular and flip the car... the car flipped about 20 feet up into the air, rolled along the grassy side of the road, then back onto the freeway... about the 7th or 8th roll later it came to a stop.
I called 911 told them the location. Decided to get on the 76th street exit and pull a ****ty and go back and see the dammages.
The car was a brand new Maxima... Obvioulsy the driver was stupid or drunk. Perhaps both.
Anyway... it took the cops about 17 minutes to get to the accident...very ****ty... people were on the side of the road... the driver apparently it was him... looked to be fine as he was sitting on the side of the road with his head in his hands most likely in severe shock.
I wanted to stop and tell him how much of a fuhking idiot he was... but he was probably in too much shock to even comprehend what i would say to him.

He appeared to be fine. I was the ONLY person around to see this. Nobody was behind him not in front of him
Same as with me.

If he was drunk... this is a perfect example of why NOT to drive if you are intoxicated. You act like a fuhking fool for no reason and fuhk lots of things up.

I gotta say, the Maxima must be pretty solid for him to survive or let alone walk away from an accident like that. Damn shame though

Don't you mean wreckful driving? Or reckless driving?
I agree though, always call the cops on these idiots. Most states Highway Patrol Dispatch is *11 on any cell phone, I had a guy tailgating me 3' off at 75mph, called UHP, and he got $800 in tickets. Another guy swerved in front of my dad in a canyon (very dangerous) and tailgated before that, he was also going about 25 over...we called NHP and they wrote him $1900 in tickets for reckless driving, tailgating, etc. It didn't help his case that he kept threatening to beat us up in front of the cops.

Actually it's less stress on a roof to roll than it is if the car flips up and lands flat on the roof. Still the car held up very well.

That guy doesn't deserve a Maxima. I say he is relegated to an Aspire until he can learn to drive safely.

Another sad Maxima story...

I work at a newspaper, and this is breaking news for tomorrow:

By ELIZABETH MILLER
emiller@thespectrum.com
CEDAR CITY ? A three-vehicle accident on Interstate 15, 10 miles north of Parowan, left a motorcyclist dead.
Andrew G. Ryan, 19, Salt Lake City, was killed Thursday when he lost control of his motorcycle, was hit by a semi-truck and trapped underneath a Nissan Maxima.
According to the Utah Highway Patrol news release, Ryan was traveling from Salt Lake to St. George. Around 1 a.m., Ryan attempted to pass another vehicle and lost control.
The motorcycle lay on its side while Ryan lay in the lane of traffic. The bike slid off the side of the freeway and the car Ryan had just passed pulled into the emergency lane to help.
Another motorcyclist who was following Ryan, but was behind the car Ryan just passed, pulled into the left shoulder to stop, the news release said.
According to the report, when the semi approached, the driver saw cars on the left and right side of the freeway and, having nowhere to go, drove over Ryan. Ryan was killed when the truck ran over him.
The driver of the semi then also pulled over into the emergency lane to stop.
The driver of the Maxima saw debris on both sides of the road and also ran over Ryan.
Ryan was trapped under the Maxima until the driver stopped in the lane of traffic, the news release said.
Neither of the other drivers reported injuries, but the driver of the semi was transported to Valley View Medical Center.
At the time of the accident the roads were dry and it was dark, but not overcast, a UHP dispatcher said.
The interstate was closed for more than two hours to clean up the accident.
How awful to be the semi driver or the Max driver and have NO CHOICE but to run over a person. If it were me I think I'd have to get a different car after that.

edit: fixed QUOTE bracket

That story still doesnt say how the Maxima came to flip over and also how all those czrs had time to pull over which basically would have drastically slowed down traffic which would have to make the truck slow down. When its pretty obvious that an accident has occured, drivers arent supposed to race through the scene. So after the guy was laying in the road, all the motorist did was stand there and watch him get run over without any attempt to stop or slow the flow of traffic down ? Its pretty sad what happened.
On a side note, whoever wrote that story should be fired ASAP for using poor english, and also using his name 100 times in that story

Im actually suprised the tires gripped enough for the car to flip, he obviously changed out the stock potenza's See, that's exactly why everyone should slam their cars with coilovers.

OK, you DO realize these are two different stories, right?
ONE story was an idiot driver who flipped his car.
The OTHER was a Maxima who had the misfortune of being in the wrong place at the wrong time.
The motorcycle crashed, the next bunch of cars on the road pulled over on both sides to avoid running over this kid. The semi, who was right behind them, has a MUCH longer stopping distance as semis are heavy and frequently fully loaded.
The Maxima just happens to be behind the semi and can't really see the accident because of it. Matter of fact, the driver is probably distracted by all the cars on both sides of the road. Since the accident has JUST occured, the people already pulled over haven't had time to walk up the freeway and warn other drivers to slow down.
By the time the Max driver sees that there's something in the road, they have no space to slow down, and there are enough pulled-over cars that there's no space to go around.
Keep in mind, it was 1 a.m., pitch dark, and at 75mph it's hard to see what's in the road until you're on top of it.

And I agree, the writer of the story did a pretty poor job. However she works at our Cedar City office (small-town) and has only been with us about a month.
