I am looking into getting a maxima and was wondering if you guys could help me answer a few questions. What if any are the difference between the 2000-2003 models? I was thinking of getting a 2k2. What colors did they come in? Which models are the more luxurious and expensive ones and which are the cheaper ones? How much is a fair price to pay? What kind of gas mileage do they get? I'm sure i'll come up with a few more but that's it for now.

 

the most luxurious model is the GLE, the 2K had 222HP, the 2k1 has 227, the 2k2 and 2k3 had a bigger motor, they were upped to 255HP - you can get a 2k2 for around 17 in great condition. you can also get an SE model with all the GLE options. i like they greyish color available for the maxima, forgot what it was called, cant go wrong with black either

 

You gotta ask yourself.. Do you want luxury or performance or just a get around car? Those are the differences between the trims.. But going from a 2K1 to a 2k2 is a big leap. more torque and horsepower.

 

2k3 bigger motor & oem hids. last year for the 5th gen.

 

I'm mostly concerned with luxury. I'd like decent performance(i'm not going to mod the engine but want some power there if i need to pass on the freeway etc) but already have a modded 92 5.0 for speed. What all options did the maxima come with? I definately want the bigger engine and headlights. What colors are there in 2k2? I saw one that was a baby blue type color, was this a factory color or custom paint job? Also how much does the navi system usually add on to the price tag? Thx for all your help guys!

 

Lots of options I'm not a real buff on anything 5th Gen. related, so someone else is gonna have to answer that. The 2k2 and 2k3 had a 3.5L V6 as opposed to the 2k and 2k1 having a 3.0L V6. As far as the headlights, the 2k2 and 2k3 both had HID's, but be wary, if you live in a bad area you might want to think about that first, because there's been a stream of complaints lately about them being stolen (or attempted to be stolen).

As far as a baby blue color, I have no clue. But in my person opinion, Majestic Blue looks hott And as far as the Navi goes, didn't someone mention something like $2,000?

When I'm buying a car, I go to www.edmunds.com and use the price appraiser for the used cars (make sure you use the appraiser and not just look at the basic price - it'll let you enter in mileage, features, and color). It'll give you 3 prices (Trade-In, Private Party, and Dealer) and I usually buy a little over the trade-in price (it'll be between the trade-in & private after taxes and stuff =P).
