New clutch and flywheel installed...
Installed my new Exedy clutch (thanks Iansw) and Fidanza flywheel (thanks Jeff92se) yesterday with help from my future 'bro' in law. Started a little after 10:30am and finished a little before 10:30pm, a long time I know, but I ran into a few problems along the way, nothing I couldn't fix, just set me back a few hours. First of all, the clutch that was on there was toast and junk. It was all glazed over and you could tell it had been overheated. I was some POS 'Valco' clutch, a brand Ive never heard of. The previous owner of the car had the clutch replaced at 30k miles by some indepentant shop, and my guess is he had them put the cheapest thing they could find in. The flywheel wasn't in the greatest looking shape either. I'm gonna take the flywheel down and see if they can resurface it still, if they can I'll just sell it. I cleaned the hell out of the pressure plate and new flywheel surface, and I'm happy to say, no chatter from the clutch at all, smooth as butter. The clutch pedal is really really soft, which kinda suprised me. I might try bleeding the clutch again, although its shifting just fine and there was no more air in the lines I'm sure. So far very happy, I won't know how it is performance wise for at least 700 miles or so till I break it in. It is pretty easy to stall now with the lightweight flywheel though.

As soft as the Exedy Stage 1 clutch is...
Has any 4th gen's driven the 5th gen manual tranny Maxima or Sentra Spec-V? When I drove those two newer Nissans, the clutch pedal felt like a feather. My friend's new 350Z is just a little softer than my stock Maxima's clutch...the Z is perfect in my opinion of drivetrain. My efforts to get my Maxima in that shape is in the works. I have in my living room a Fidanza Fly, Exedy stage 1, Phantom Grip, and Redline MT-90. In the mail is a B&M shifter. Can't wait to get all this stuff in.

i completely broke into my clutch... i don't think this clutch should be used for performance really.. i duno, it feels so soft. It's a good thing for me because i have a daily commute of 50 mi. but most of it is highway anyways.
I did a burnout and chirped 3rd gear... so far i'm hella loving the clutch. Let's hope it can still do that 50k mi. down the road...

I'm getting sick of my Key Value clutch; can't wait to get an Exedy. As far as a new flywheel, what are the pros/cons? Just frees up power/easier to stall? Just seems like a lot of money if you can just resurface for $50.

Just an FYI on what I did to prep the flywheel and pressure plate... I sprayed them both down with engine degreaser, and then used fine grit wet sandpaper over both briefly, and then I rinsed them off with water and let them dry completly before installing. This worked great for me, still no chatter, but I'm not guaranteeing anything for anyone else.
