I am trying to find out if this is possible. If it could be done with an engin swap. If any one know anything post it please! Thanks!

Ummm...No
The Frontier engine is great for what it is...a truck engine, and that's about it. It's not nearly refined enough to deserve a spot in the Maxima's engine bay.
Besides, 1)I don't think it would fit
2)Frontier's are rwd, Maxima's are fwd, and I imagine that having completely different trannies would complicate the matter.

In all, it wouldn't be a good idea.

What WOULD be a great idea IMO is if we could get someone to develop a roots-type supercharger kit for the Max (hmm...maybe Jackson Racing? )

Hmmm..

the 3rd gen has possibilites, given that the frontier's motor is a stroked VG (3.3 instead of 3.0 as in the 89 to 94 Maxes).....but the RWD throws a whole other variable in there.

But, that would make for an interesting RWD conversion for a 3rd gen......

I think he means just the supercharger. Hence the term ON.

To answer your question, prolly not.
I haven't seen the engine bay in the frontier but assuming the engine is longitudely mounted (RWD) as opposed to the maxima's transversely mounted engine (FWD) it prolly wouldn't clear anything. And if it did fit it would prolly fit only on the 3rd gen (VG).

I meant to clarify that you couldn't just lop off the S/C on the Frontier and stick on ANY Max....rather, a motor swap would have the best chance.......and a 3rd gen would have the best chance of success.....

But even then, the clearance issues associated with a motor mounted for RWD operation would probably give a perspective mechanic fits on how to squeeze it under the hood.....

Doubt it would fit, but why bother? It's only 210hp right?

I'm more interested in knowing if the 280hp Japanese VQ30DET or ~250hp VQ35DE(?) will fit in our car?

This would probably work really well for the 3rd gen. max. The same 3.3L, with out the S/C, is used in the current fwd Quest and the Quest is largely based on the 3rd gen max.

There's way too many factors to consider...

1. There's the rwd to fwd switch.
2. The S/C is designed to fit on an inline-4, not a V6. The intake design will be different(four inlet holes vs. three). Lemme put it this way: You'd prolly have an easier time trying to fit the Neuspeed S/C for the VW VR6. At least it has the same amount of cylinders, and the vee arrangement.
3. An engine swap prolly won't work b/c again, the engine is an inline-4, which is one cylinder longer than a V6. There might not be enough room for it.

And basically, that means no.

The SC Frontier is a V6, not a 4

But it's an Eaton Roots type blower which takes up a lot more space than the Vortech Centriufugal one, there isn't much room to put a roots blower on in the Maxima.

More Info on my idea.

From what I understand the Frontier 3.3 v6 is the same block as the 3.0 in the Maxima. The engin is just bored and stroked, which I plan on doing any way (3.5L). As far as the FWD or RWD situation, the supercharger only affects the intake. There might be some clearence isues with a tower brace or the hood. On the Frontier the SC runs at 240hp. That engin is made to run like a truck engin. I think this might have some possiblilties. I am going to do some more research. If anyone knows anything else let me know! This could work out for us! Thanks for the response!

Re: More Info on my idea.

The Frontier has a VG33DER or something like that. Which is why they are saying you have a better chance of putting it in the 3rd gen max (which has a VG30DE)..

Maybe the VQ35DE from the new 300Z will fit?

The VG 3.3 in the Quest/Frontier/etc. is just a bore change. There is no "stroking" of the motor. And as for the roots type blower, you might have firewall clearence issues too. I'll try to make it down to the local Nissan dealership *shudder* and take some pics(Hopefully without some little **** heads asking what I'm doing again..)
