Just broke - help diagnose

I just changed plugs, wires, cap & rotor. Everything was working fine. Went on an errand, and was coming home. All of a sudden, shifting from second to third, and third didn't take. Felt like I never left second. There was a snap sound. Shifted back to second, but the car died.

Now it won't start. I am going to inspect the rotor and cap, but I doubt that is the problem. I read in the Hanes manual that there is a second gear lock pin...anyone hear of this? I think it could be a timing belt, but not sure.

Luckily, this all happened in front of the auto plaza, so I have had my car pushed by the Grease Monkey's into the AAMCO parking lot, with a Goodyear service center and Exhaust Pros garage, should I need it. Good place to break down!

Anyway, going to go look at my car underneath, as soon as I get my tools, jack, stands, and creeper to my car.
