Will this hurt performance?
Will this hurt performance?
Everytime I start my car, my MAP sensor triggers the service engine light... if we clear it, the code will not come back until the next time I start the car.
Is the absolute pressure sensor vital to performance or the well-being of the car, or not? I have done a search, some people in the past few years have said yes it will correct the a/f ratio based on barometric pressure/altitude, some say it is strictly only used to read information : the ECU will make no changes to anything.
Can someone put down their 2 cents on this?

I have no problem fixing it. I have a problem getting the part to me in time for the track Friday night. I don't want to break anything, but I would hate to miss out if this is just a useless sensor as many have said it is.
I won't have time to test & tune until September otherwise.

I agree. Performance at the track is going to be dominated by how your fuel management system is set up and tuned, and the ECU is going to be in open loop mode anyway. At WOT the ECU does its thing blindly without any consideration for what sensors are telling it.

it ignores the o2 sensors and what voltage it is reading {to the guys with the o2 gauges, they are worth less}
it does reid the map sensor and mas air at wot.
it selects what fuel trim/map to come close to perfect a/f or what nissan assumes is perfect for a certain air temp, pressure, humidity, so on and so forth.
the car will run better with a properly fuctioning map sensor.
thats my two cents

Read the above reply. I might not have the new sensor by Friday.
