3.5 in a 4th gen!!!!!!...........

Tried the search feature without much luck. Could some of you guys link me up with some threads on this. I'm curious to find out if it is do-able while being relatively feasible and what some of the problems I would run into.

Thanks

No one has done this. The most people have done is like Jeff at Maximum Tuning where he has put a 6spd into his 4th gen on the VQ30.

Then we got MardisGrasMax who is the closest in doing this transplant, but he is not dropping the entire engine, just the lower I believe and he is still working on the project.

So, from what you've told me two things CAN be done.....
1) the engine and tranny from the 4th and 5th gens are interchangable, meaning they will bolt up to each other?
2) the 5th gen engine will bolt up in the engine bay of a 4th gen?

Is this correct?

Thanks for some constructive feedback....

No. Only certain parts of the engine bolt up to each other. The tranny's aren't interchangeable perfectly. They're not direct replacement...

Jeff had to do a lot of work in order for the 6 speed tranny to fit in his 4th Gen. If you are under the assumption that it is a bolt on you are DEAD WRONG...

Why would I drive all the way to New York to see a car? And with anything else on the Org, claims such as this will always be met with demands of proof. Since it is his car, I don't see why anyone else would be making claims such as this without showing pictures. If Jeff wanted to tell the world he put in a 6 speed manual transmission into his 4th gen, he would post up himself; not his friends or customers that went to his shop who have seen it making the claim for him.

Until I see pictures, I remain skeptical of this claim. Not because I doubt Jeff's ability, but because it's not Jeff making the claim himself along with the fact that there are no pictures.

Exactly. Hell, I can put a 6 speed in my 4th gen too, but that doesn't mean the car is driveable. I can also say I have a 6 speed tranny on my Cardomain site and who could prove me right or wrong? The 6 speed is a cable shifter where as the 4th gen is a linkage shifter. I'm still confused as to how and why he'd want to do this. We all know the 6 speed tranny as no gearing advantage over the 4th/5th gen 5 speed so what's the point? Bragging rights? Wanting a crappy feeling cable shifter?

Like yall would believe it even if he took pictures of the shift **** that shows all gears? It aint no point with some of you, its like a never ending circle.

What you want him to do to prove its a 6spd? Take pictures of a tranny apart with all 6gears and show it back on the car? Then you will tell me "How we truly know its back on the car and not just a 5spd tranny?" What you want a non-stop video?

Oh yeah, im sure that couldve been edited and also proved wrong.

I got even a better idea, why not me, da-max, and sprintmax work on getting a bigrig 17gear tranny into my maxima. Im sure that will show the true power of the maxima after all.

What about a nice high-low in the rear differential? Pop it into 17-hi and then whoop some a$$!
