Evil Clutch Disk From Hell
Ok. my Maxima wasn't disengaging. So I finally got the transmission out and this is what the clutch disk looks like. What sort of problems would this have caused? Is this my problem?

Don't know what happened, but yes, that is your problem. Go to www.thepartsbin.com and order yourself a new clutch disk. Looking at the disk, I can see a LOT of blue, meaning you have been having over-heating problems on the clutch caused by a multitude of things.

But it does say Nissan on it. Is it OEM or was it bought with a replacement clutch? The is definitely a problem there. It could have been an imperfection in the metal that stressed out when force was applied against it. It can be a multitude of things like I stated earlier in the post.

Same thing happened to me here: http://home.earthlink.net/~4rc4ne/Picture-109.jpg
That Disk came with my ACT clutch.
My guess is that the relief holes at the end of the bent tabs are imperfect, allowing cracks to form. Or 2 of the springs are just too strong. The disk has 2 large and 2 small springs. On yours I see one of the large holding tabs cracked. On my mine Both of the large ones cracked. The small spring tabs were fine.

It looks like the spring had gotten jammed inside of the pressure plate, and somehow didn't cause any damage to either disk surfaces or the flywheel (thank god). Anyway, it was $29.99 from Autozone, but getting the tranny in and out raised my minds price on what I payed for it
