Mushy Brakes
Mushy Brakes
I have a 99 and my friend i did my brakes (front and rear) last week. He knows alot more about cars than I so i take his word alot but.....
We didnt bleed the brake lines, he said we didnt need to b/c we never broke the brake line. Im not sure if this is good or bad?
Anyways now if im goin like 10mph and hit the brake really hard it stops more gradually. B4 it would stop on a dime. He told me this was b/c they are different brake pads. He also said if i was goin fast and had to slam on my brakes they would grab and stop. Well I dont know if i want to test this theory.
Could it be different b/c we didnt bleed them? If so we can bleed them this weekend.
If thats not it whats the deal?????

What pads did you put on?
Brake pads take some time to bed in correctly. There's a procedure that you can follow that will aid you with breaking them in.
Different pads do have different bite.

I just put on these pads from Auto Zone---- Fronts-they were somthing like import expert pads or sumtin- they were the expensive ones for autozone w/ a lifetime garuntee for like $35.... and on the rears they were out of those so i just went w/ the cheap ones that were made out of organic material......
Well i dont really feel safe w/ these. I like being able to stop on a dime

I'm willing to bet your $35 dollar lifetime warranty cheap organic brake pads is why your brakes have no bite.
Go to Nissan and get some OEM pads (not key value) or buy some aftermarket high performance brake pads for your car.

Ok i will.....do they just break in over time? Today i hit my brakes kinda hard @ red light and they seemed to stop better than 2 days ago, and they are also creating this red rusted looking breakdust.
