Problem with brakes
#1
Hey whats up guys? I have this problem with my brakes. Ok I just put new front brakes on my car this morning and the back brakes about two months ago. Ok the problem is that the interval of changing my brake pads is in between 1-2yrs. Its weird. I ve changed my brake pads last year twice. So it seems its a bout twice every yr. What could be the cause of so fast brake pad wear? PLease help. Also there is another thing. I noticed that on the front only the right front brake pads were worn pretty low and uneven compared to the left side that had less than half still good and worn evenly. What could be the prob guys? this is ridiculous of how short the time is that I change the brake pads. Please help, all suggestions would be great.

no its not that its all in the front. The back brakes are fine. Plus the parking break only works for the Back discs, not the front. Still need help. Oh, could worn struts be a cause of the quick brake pad wear? need more help

My bad, I kept thinking you were referring to the back, misread your post. But maybe your brake bias is off, on my old Camry, I had that problem. I'd toast the front brakes like every 4 months. Or maybe your caliper is sticking, that happened on my brothers old car. His right front caliper was sticking so it would drag and he'd go through brake pads like crazy. They finally fixed it by putting on a new caliper.

new calibers I heard are dead expensive. you know what when I took of the tire and wiped the dust and dirt from the side of the struts, it said "Nissan." So for all this time they ve never ever been changed. My car is an 88 with 143k on it and the struts have never been changed! wow Factory struts!!! could it be anything else?

I don't think a worn strut would cause brake pad wear. Calipers aren't that much, maybe $50 or so for a rebuilt one. Or you could rebuild yours, you could get a rebuild kit from somewhere. I'm not sure what else may cause your problem, I just know that when one brake wore down more than another on my brothers car, it was due to a sticking caliper.
