Scratching sound when going over speed bumps
#1
Greetings,
I was wondering if you have heard the same in you cars. When I go over speed bumps at a normal speed, I hear a scratching sound at the front. I have a stock suspension (at now 47K miles) and started to hear this about 3 weeks ago and is now getting to be more often, actually even when I go over somewhat large pot holes.
I jacked lifted the car and checked underneath for anything that might be lose, nothing found.
I suspected my Y pipe to be lose at the front and go up and down with the car but not, it wasn't.
I then thought it might be the ES bushings, but not, they are tightly placed.
I its now a puzzle. I suspect my shocks are gone!
Have you guys felt the scratching before (at the end of the life of your shocks?).
I think I will be in the market for a set of shocks and springs (why not the latter?). Which ones would you recommend (I like a compromise, as I still like the comfortable ride...) Who has the lowest prices?
Please let me know.
Thanks,

You didn't mention how much mileage you have on the car.
Did you bounce your corners while parked to see if the scratching noise shows up? You'll know that your shocks are gone when you start feeling really weird sensations as you are driving over little bumps like excessive bouncing and a wallowing feel.
