The current gossip going around is that it will be the same as the new Z and that is 275 as of today.

The engine will be the VQ35 that is currently in the Pathfinder. It is rated @ 250HP @ 6000 and 240lb-ft @3200. The current Max is rated 222(7)@ 6400 (at or near the reve limiter) and 217 lb-ft @4000.

If we use an HP and lb-ft per L we get that a 3.5L Max should develop 259 HP. and 253 lb-ft. I can see them narrowing the power band, raising the point where top HP is developed and trading it off against torque, HP is what sells a car.

There are other places where power can be gained, like in how well the car breathes in and out, plus refinement of the internal components of the engine, which was done to get the VQ30DE from 190HP to the VQ30DE-K to 222.

It will be an incorporated version of the Pathfinder engine and have a total of 260hp. I know everyone is going to flame on me for saying this, but i am firm as i have been in meetings at the dealership with Nissan reps that are showing me the figures, images and dates for when these products will be out. Just as a side note, look for the new altima to debut in a bout a month

Yeah, I think it will be a 3.5L V6 with 260hp. The new Z will have a variant of that engine producing close to 280hp, the Japanese legal "maximum."

Either way, the 5th gen body with 260 stock horsepower is going to be mad fast. Get it before the "big" Maxima comes out.
