Valve Cover Gasket Failed
Valve Cover Gasket Failed
I was putting in new spark plugs today, and when I put the spark plug socket in, I hit oil. This could be the reason I've been getting some bad gas mileage lately. Any ideas on how to get all the oil out?
Do you have a "Mighty Vac" vacuum pump? That would work well. Or you could use mzmtg's idea (if you've been using Mobil 1 Super Syn you're lucky, it tastes like butterscotch).
Or borrow a friend's shop vac and use a detailing kit attachment hose, but don't let him know you'll be sucking up oil. A good cleaning of it afterwards would be a nice gesture.
Or you could just let it burn off.

since you've got most of it out, pull the plug out and crank the engine over a few times.... AFTER you've replaced the gasket.
put the old plug back in and fire the engine up. let it run a little while to burn out the oil, then let it cool off and put the new plugs in.

why don't you try to roll up a paper towel and see if that will suck it up. Also to keep it from continuing to leak after torquing it, clean out your pcv valve with some brake cleaner. This may take care of your problem. Otherwise you may have to replace the gasket.
