Good news for you guys looking to convert to 5spd

I just recently opened an account with a very large foriegn parts salvage yard. If your looking to do a conversion on just about any car he will buy a totaled car (rear hits only) at auction, part out the conversion parts and ship them to me. Being that they get whole cars everthing needed is there. So far he's gotten me 4 max's, 2 altimas, 2 honda,s, and a 3000gt all of which I've done conversions on in the last 2 months. Call me for more details.

Sweet. DOes this include 2000-2001? Are you guys gonna offer the whole pakage-tranny/parts and install. Or does the customer still have to find locate everything?

What im trying to ask is like for a total price of 2,000 would that include trannt/parts and install out the door?

if so this would be a load off of many peoples mind.

FifGen,

I don't believe that will include install...but I could be wrong, all in all expect a total of about $3k-$3500 for the parts and install.

Me and Chaz (cbr2) did it up in Jacksonville, FLA for 3 days. (so yes, I did it myself, he was the brains of the operation tho). It was a grand for everything, but I gave him my old auto tranny. It was a once in a lifetime experience.

my experience with my engine and tranny conversion is something that has opened my eyes and made me understand exactly why mechanics get paid what they get...it was tough and still not done...but almost

Parts guys at the dealer thought I was crazy when I ordered a bunch of small stuff you would never have to replace on a 5 speed.

That price does not cover my goodies that I personally wanted tho..

ACT ,UR flywheel, sts

but yeah I got a great deal for a 50k mile setup, and yeah I know what you mean about the nissan parts guy thinking your crazy. Happens all the time.

Converting to 6spd is very tedious.. You'll have to get parts from a 2k2-2k3.. And there aren't that many salvaged so finding used parts will be hard. When Jeff did his he had to order all new parts. Tranny,shifter,linkage,clutch..etc... You also have to relocate your battery..etc.. It's more then a week labor...

Jeff had to do that on his car.. maybe it was because afte rthe 6spd conversion the sc gets in the way? I also think he had to do something with the ABS box. Relocate that too..

He can locate just about any car. 4th gen max's and Alty's are usually between $1500-$1800. 5th gen Max's are $2k-$2,300 but should be going down as they become more available. Labor for most cars is $900-$1300. the only thing I recomend is that the customer get a new clutch kit and may have to get a new shift **** and shift boot as they may be worn.
As far as the six speed goes. Right now it's very difficult to locate them especially with HLSD. I installed one in my 4th gen but it was very expensive and time consuming. I hade to relocate my batt in the trunk because the ABS actuator had to be relocated where the batt was. I installed it only because the gear ratios complimented the S/C much better (taller 1st gear/shorter 2nd) no more dropping out of the boost range on the 1-2 shift, and the HLSD(and also just to be different).

You have to understand it's not just the tranny. It's the ECM. flywheel, ****er linkages, shifter assy, master cyl, slave cyl, the pedals alone are woth $200. Try calling a salvage yard for manual trans pedals. They just don't save that stuff. You have to get it from nissan and the clutch pedal is not sold as an assy. I'ts made up of about 10 peice all of which will be on backorder due to no demand for them. Trust me, I've been through this. Getting th whole car save so much time and money. The clutch hydro line is also about ten peices. You'll never find this stuff at a salvage yard unless they have the whole car.
