Axles

Heres the deal i was driving my Maxima a few days ago and i hit a good size bump down some back road. The second i hit the bump my car started to free rev. None of my gears would work? I had my dad come and help tow the car home. I finally had time to look at it today and it looks like i ****ed my axle and some other bracket up. I need to know what the hell this break would be called and where to find it. the car is a 96 SE 5 speed with out abs. http://www.tamparacing.com/forums/at...&postid=676431

Its called a Bracket-Bearing

Nissan part # 39780-31U00 $123

make shure you specify its for a 5speed bracket because theres a bracket for automatic and manual. If they dont believe you then I can prove it. the automatic one will work but will make fluid leak since its not the correct angle

i just called Nissan and the part number is 39780- 31000 and its correct name is Bearing Supprt Bracket. Its $126.00, thats a damn lot of money. I was thinking to take it to a machine shop and have someone fab something for me. The stock one is made from Cast Iron and its not that strong.

I suggest look for one in junk yards or just pay for the new one.
if your going to get one custom made just be shure they make it exactly correct since that bracket determines the angle which the axle goes in the tranny and if its off then it will leak fluid or you will wear something out like differential bearings.
