1700 is a fair cost for a paint job... I think you have to make sure that your "firends" shop does things the right way thoought. Go there and look at some of the work they do. Most cars look a bit rough until they are finally polished. If you are happy with what you see go for it but try and get a warranty like the probablly give at macco.....As for all of you who aint adull black finish mabye you should by a military hummer....

I sold the Type II. I wish that I didn't. Oh well.

I'm about to go pick the car up. *crossing my fingers* and hope it's well worth the wait.

what's the hype about PPG paint?.. i hear it's like a coat of ceraminc tile, hard and very resistant to road debris.. i've never seen it in person so i'd like to know a little more about it before i get my car done in a couple of more years.
Tom?.. anyone?

Just picked up the car. And it was well worth the wait. The new paint along with the Stillen bodykit looks great.

I forgot to mention there is a warranty on the paint. The warranty is an as long as I own the car type. That is a definite plus.

The only negative: just doesn't look right with the stock 15" sawblades on. Plus, car probably would look better if I had a lower drop(on H&R right now). Too bad I live in New Orleans, if not I would be riding on coilovers by now.

I will get some pics by this weekend or by next week.

Yes I still do. I don't think I have seen your car around. Let me know when you're free and I could meet up with you sometime.

Cattman ypipe with Greddy SP exhaust. What do you got on your car? Intake? Were you trying(i.e.flooring it)when you went against me? For some reason my car felt really slow.

Not sure if you got a good look at the paint job. What do you think of it?

yeah i have the homemade intake..i didnt launch or anything.. i just eased off the line then floored it. i didnt expect to stay ahead for as long as i did. the paint looks good but it was hard to get a good look because of the crazy weather here and i think your rear was dusty? i'm finally getting my paintjob in about 2 weeks.. just waiting for front bumper and headlights (doing conversion)

How long do you guys think I should wait until I wash the car? Shop guy told me to wait one whole month. WTH? That long? My car is already getting dirty...darn constructions.

Btw, today was the first time I opened up my hood. The engine bay was very, very dirty. Must have been from the sanding. I used a damped towel and cleaned it as best that I could. I'm sure there are many spot that I missed. It looks much better now, but still not very clean. There are also signs of the sanding elsewhere...like along the inside of the doors, around the windshield wipers, and a few other places. I think I have to get the car completely detailed when I get the car wash. Maybe even get the engine bay detailed.

Thoughts?

I was watching one of those car shows on spike and the guys repainted a classic car(sorry cant remember what car) but they stated that the repaint(nonoriginal) on a car doesnt completely dry until about 60 -90 days after the paint has been applied. Not sure if that applies with todays cars and paint but I just thought I would share that info.

I don't know about washing, but don't wax your car for a year after painting.
