VQ valve cover questions. Info needed for new Ionicdynamics.com project!

Hi:

I am going to make a valve cover in Carbon fiber for my 1998 max. I know that the 1995-99 3.0 VQ have the same cover, but I am unsure about the 2000-2001 model year. Does anyone know if they are the same?

And what are the differences on the 3.5 VQ valve covers, is every year the same?

Estimated completion time for my valve cover including the molds will be four weeks. If there is demand I will also make the other valve covers available.

I have completed other Carbon fiber products for the Z32 and thought that these would be a nice touch for the max.

Thanks!

To my knowledge, the valve covers on the 00-01 are different from the 95-99. I wish the MEVI valve cover fit the USIM hehe. The 3.5 VQ has a different valve cover too, and I know there are carbon fiber ones already available for the 350Z, dunno if they'd fit the FWD max tho.

The diference here is that I only work on one or two projects at a time and I am the manufacturer .

Does any one have any info about the 3.5 Valve covers?

As I posted, estimated completion time will be 4 weeks starting from today.

Thanks!

Hmm... I've compared my mom's 97 I30 valve cover and my 2000 GXE valve cover before, and they look to me to be the same size. She's at work right now, but I can try to swap them to see if they fit when she gets home later tonight.

Yeah i like to call this piece the plug cover. It is not the same as valve cover seeing as the valve cover is made of metal and takes a lot of heat. Is it possible to make heat resistant CF Valve covers? That would be really cool to have a CF upper engine. Would save weight and def would look cool. Way to start a project like this man. Thanx. What kind of price would u be lookin at for 4th gens.

You are right about that! I was going to call it the plug cover but after making some searches I noticed that everyone was calling it a valve cover lol!

The pricing will be soon to be determined, it will depend on many factors, but you know it will be high quality and at a great price.

Thanks!

Hi metallic97GXE!! It's nice to "see" you again Things have been getting better.

Matt93SE: I will have to contact my distributors to see if there are materials (Cfiber and resins) that can take the constant change in temperature . After that I will have to see the valve cover it's self and see how complicated it is, because that will highly influence the production cost. And last but not least I will have to take into consideration how much demand that valve cover will have. If it will only work on two or three model years, or I'm only going to sell ten or less then it would not be a wise investment.

Take care!

Jose.

Desing question?

Hi guys!

The molds are done and the first piece production piece will be finished today. I just have one question, do you guys think that it would look cool if the original NISSAN lettering appears embossed on gel coat of the Carbon fiber cover?

I will have pics later today.

Thanks!

new pics!!

Hi guys!

I finally have some new pics of the first production piece. the fitment was perfect, and the overall look and feel of the piece is awesome. There are some small details that we have to deal with because of the shape and placement of the screws, nothing too bad.

Here's the pics: http://www.ionicdynamics.com/sparkcover.html

I'm going to start the GD this Monday, pricing and details will be given in that thread.

Thanks!

I can have it made for you without the lettering

I just thought it would be a nice touch to have the Nissan lettering on it.

I'm pretty sure it will fit but I haven't had any 5th gen members buy one yet. Would you be willing to send your spark cover to me so I can check if they are the same?

Please let me know.

Thanks!

Dammit! I knew I forgot to do something. Unfortunately I won't be going home for another week or two. Maybe I'll try to compare it with my cousin's car if I get the chance.
