Need help on removing the ypipe
as titled....any tips?
I got everything unbolted, included the O2 senors. but the damned thing just wont come off. I tried to pull the pipe out of the rear manifold first and it didnt work. Then I tried to force it out of the pre-cat (I have 2000 cali spec) and it didnt work. Now I am so tired that I dont have any strength to work on it.
thx

I ran into the same problem. Just have someone pull from the front and then where the y-pipe meets the CAT, bang on it with a hammer. It'll eventually budge. There is some sealent stuff there. The new one goes in 20 min, tops. I promise.

thx guys for the inputs....I unbolted everything without any problem because my installer used antiseize on all bolts.
but the problem now is that it got stuck onto the car and it wont come off. I dunno which side should I pull out first? the front manifold or the rear?
thx

Still stuck? Eat some more rice.
Yeah, it's a bit tricky. You have two choices:
- pull off the front pipe first... you'll have to use quite a bit of strength
- pull downwards to the pip going upwards will come down first

I went for the second route, take out the pipe goes to the rear manifold first. I took it off to check my flex section but the felx section was fine. The newer stillen pipe uses the ring-type flex like the cattman pipe. so pretty much I just spent few hours of working on nothing and 10 dollars for new gaskets.
thx everybody for the inputs

I tried to just disconnect the cat and the pipe, but I couldnt see it.
