Emissions 3 step

Hi everyone. Today I did my 3 step Emissions which supposed to regain my hp and make a car more fuel efficient. After getting it, i drove for 2 hours, and honestly I don't see a single difference. Anybody who has done it, did u see the difference or is it unnoticible or maybe it comes with time. Please expalin it to me how it works.

Well. my mechanic recomended it to me. He said it hasn't been done for a while. Since i bought this car with 72K, i don't know what my previous owner did to it. I was away for 7 months, my gf racked 30K on it. When I found out about it, I was pretty upset. So now i'm trying to do everything to bring my max to the flawless condition.

Wow, 30k in 7 months. That's some serious driving.

So you now have 100k+ miles and don't know what's been done recently?

I'd get a tune up.
- spark plugs
- fuel filter
- PVC valve
- oil change
- coolant flush/change
- transmission fluid flush/change
- check brake pads/rotors
- change brake fluid
- check CV joint boots
- check struts
- throttle body cleaning
- probably need a good engine bay cleaning too
- check your tires too. probably near bald after 30k.

Much of the above can be done DIY, if you have the time and tools.

Good luck.

JPMax, is that what 60K service is like what u described? I think TB cleaning comes in 3 step emissions....how much would all of it cost me? Tires are good, rotors I'm changing to Brembos, oil change I just did with synthetic. What are the symptoms of bad struts? When can I tell that its time to change the spark plugs?

If you have that many miles and they haven't been changed go ahead and do it. I changed mine last weekend at 46K and they looked like they needed it. I could feel a difference afterwards.

Yes, the 60k service pretty much includes all that I listed above.

Since you're not sure what's been done when, it would be a good idea to get it all done so you're sure now.

To test the struts, simply park the car on level ground and push down on one corner of the car at a time and let go. The corner should come up without bouncing up and down a lot.

Also, check the strut boots by turning the wheels all the way to one side so you can see. The OEM struts boots tend to fall apart after 90k or so. This lets water and dirt in which eventually fouls up the struts.

While you're down there, see if there's any oil on the strut housing. Could be a sign that it's leaking and needs replacing.
