would the stock harnesses last?

I just mod. my headlights into using highbeam all the time now, by switching the wires to the harness and the position of the bulb itself (turn it completely 180 degrees). So i'm using 65w for low and 45w for high beam (PIAA Xtreme white).

Anyone else tried this before? I hope the stock harnesses and the bulbs are ok with this

The light on the road is now so white and bright, those that have the Xtremewhite know how the high beam is whiter and brighter, imagine that light is now all on the road

why don't you just get some bulbs that burn at 65W on low beam
I used to have 80W on my low beams an they melted my hardness

No ****! Why would you want to drive around blinding people? That makes no sense.

yeah.. that would make it easier isn't it. I did this because I want my low beam watt. to be more than stock but not close to 80watt. I already have my PIAA so I dun want to get another pair (those on ebay are crap anyway)

optimus310, this is not high beam, i'm just using high beam wattage for low beam.

it dosent work like that its the bulbs and not the wires that determine the wattage. Also the high beam bulb filament if different so you will be blinding people.

The High beams are determine by the position of the filament not so much the wattage. So when you have your high beams on all the time you are just blinding people. Even worst than HIDs on our housing. just my .2 cents

thats true too, if you simply switch the wires it dosent do anything as far a the way the bulbs function they remain the same, you are only changing the way you control them

ok .. the high and low filaments are positioned next to each other with one slide to the right and one slide to the left a little bit. So when I turn the buld itself 180 degrees when I put it in the headlight, low beam (45w) is now shining up and all over the road and high beam (65w) is now shining on the road (just like the normal low beam), because I just change the position of the filaments.

I only switch the wire so it won't be opposite between the switch and the headlight (turn on my headlight normally will be high beam if I do'nt switch).

here is a pic so you guys can see what i'm talking about. Notice how high beam is so dim compare to low.

He doesn't care about blinding people. He just switched the wires so that low beam runs as high beam, so if a cop pulls him over, the blue high beam light won't be on.

He's just asking if it'll burn the stock harness. I don't think it'll burn the stock harness b/c Nissan probably thought about people using this wattage. Not 100% sure, go ask a Nissan parts manager. "I'm running high beams all the time and I was wondering if it'll melt the stock harness?"

Why don't you just upgrade the wire harness to a 80/100 one?

You have to buy a new harness that can support those bulbs. Upgrade your harness then you'll be fine... hopefully...

Search for "upgrade harness" and you'll find posts like this: http://forums.maxima.org/showthread....pgrade+harness
