12 Second Maxima after a hard saturday night.

Well someone (borrowed) my car on Sat nite and it was found today like this.

Not sure how much the insurance is going to cough up but they told me to start shopping that they will pay replacement value.

Someone probably played with the nitrous and didn't know what they were doing and left the bottle warmer on or something.

I think it's a joke, bucause Jime GXE doesnt have a moon roof. This one does. But it could be his green 97.

Yes it was the 97 which is worse because its worth more. There was no nitrous etc in it, it was back to stock.

It melted the bumpers, lights etc right off, all tires even the spare are reduced to wire, no interior at all, you can almost make out the Boise in the dash. Can't even tell what color it was.

The plates survived though they were inside after it was towed back so I retrieved them. I guess thats how the police identified it.

I was wondering about that too Jeff but it rained here sat night and pretty much all day sunday. The roof seems to have much more rust than anywhere else, maybe more heat from the leather etc burning. Not really sure but I didn't think it would rust that fast, although my brake disks sure can do it overnight.

I didn't have any aftermarket stuff on it, it was all put on the 95. Still it was a real pretty looking green color sat and now its grey powder.

Spoiler is totally disappeared.

Looks like the fire started in the cabin of the car. That really sucks. Good luck with the insurance and all.

So thats how you do your weight reduction

seriously though, that sucks was the car stolen? I'm sorry I havent been following your cars too closely, but didn't the 97 get in an accident, which is when you bought the 95 and had the motor/tranny swapped (modified mag article)? I thought the green max was history?

Would be interesting to weight it.

No the 97 was never in an accident or anything I just gave it to the wife to drive and bought the 95 and then did the engine and tranny swap. It was a great car to drive, I loved the leather and sunroof etc that the GXE doesn't have.

I did report it stolen around 9AM sunday. I was over at my daughters place on sat night for dinner and came home around 6 but didn't notice it gone until sun morn. My wife went to visit her Mom for the weekend with the 95 and I was going to do the brakes on the 97 on sunday. Still have the pads I guess they will go on the 95. Sure wish I have known I would have taken the Boise out. The audio in the GXE sucks, its an aftermarket JVC.

There was nothing in the car of value. I think it was probably someone joyriding but not sure. I looked pretty close at the steering column but was hard to see if it was damaged or tampered with, wasn't much left in there to look at.

Sure looks like it was hot though.

Did the Fire or Police able to tell if they doused the car with gasoline? Can they tell a flamable liquid was used? Cause from the looks of it and you saying damn near everything melted off, makes me think they doused it with some for of flammable liquid. Nitrous alone couldnt do that.

There was no nitrous in it.

An investigator from the insurance co is going to look at it tomorrow, he may shed some light on it. They can tell a lot from looking at the results, will be interesting to hear his comments.

There was an accelerant used for sure. I wonder if it was used in a crime, a car torched like that would hide almost all evidence. I mean with the heat generated to clean out almost everything non-metal a body would be entirely cremated bones and all!

It very well could have been kids too. Scared as **** they'd get caught so they torched it. You would think the flames, at least 20 feet in the air or more, could be seen for quite a distance.

Hey Jime, how far away did they find the car? Seems like it was a quick recovery/turn around.
