I'm curious to know if NE1 has advice on shipping new or used parts to Canada. I'm interested in some of the items in the 4sale forum but need to know the best (cheapest)way to get them up here. UPS is a joke once the customs brokers are done... Is shipping via USPS parcel post a viable alternative? What about transport companies?

Any feedback based on experience?

Thanx all - Maxima.org is a GREAT resource!

Before when I was thinking of buying some stuff over the internet, i phoned up Canada post and they said the best way to bypass the brokerage fees that UPS and such charge is by getting it shipped by USPS
They said it would come to a central post office and you would have to pay PST, GST and $5 flat rate brokerage

Hope this helps

Hmmmm.

I've used:

Fedex - 3x
UPS - 4x
USPS - 1x

Fedex - Big charges, like $200 canadian for $450US worth of stuff.

UPS - One big charge, one item ($30US) charged for $22 canadian (That's INSANE!!!!!!!).. One was sent as a "returned - wrong item" and had no duty on it, and the last one was set as a gift valued at "$1", and cost me $22 bucks.

USPS - They lost my package =P It was the UPS one that was resent at a nice fee of $22 bucks for a $30US item.

No matter if you declare it as a gift or not, you're still gonna wind up paying $22 bucks. The best way to do it is say it's a returned item imo.

find someone

ship it to a buddy who lives not too far across the border. Or maybe there's a friendly Maxima.org member close to the border in the States who would be willing to receive the stuff till it could be picked up in person, or maybe an arrangement could be made to have the stuff delivered to a NISSAN dealer close to the border and picked up from there.
let me know..I'm desperate too!!!!!!
my closest friend is in Cinncinati..and that's a little too far to go for a weekend for me.
