Hey,
I never listen to the radio, ever. Just CDs, and i hate the way my car looks with the antena up. Yuck. Is there a way to make it stay down when the radio is on?
Thanks

Just remove the trunk liner and unplug the power to the antenna motor. You will get poor reception in some areas though...but if you only listen to CD's it doesn't matter...

hmmm

Ok i took off the trunk liner and followed a gray wire to a box, where i unplugged it. Theres metal covering the area where the antena is, so i cant really see, just have to feel.
Anyway, unplugging this gray wire didnt do anything. Antena still went up. On the box where the gray wire connected there were some more wires under it, but it didnt seem like those went to the antena.
So, what color is the wire i unplug, and where is it?
Thanks

Can't tell from your sig -- did you replace the stock HU? (SSSS could be the stock Bose, too, depends on how you look at it). Anyway, when listening to CD's, my stock Bose lowers the antenna, or never raises it if you just start with CD's all the time. If you really want to pull the wires, I can check mine, too and see exactly what they look like. Let me know.

Guys, if you find out which wire to pull, let me know because I want to get rid of the annoying antenna always going up too. I only listen to cds as well. So, the antenna is no use to me. Thanks.

OK, I checked -- it is the wire the comes off of the tail light assembly. There are two black wires and one pink fed into a white plug. Mine had the rippled hard black platic tubing around it.

Sorry, but I dont have a digital camera. Did you unscrew the assembly that holds the jack in place? That will give you much more room to work back there. Just look for the only wire that goes from the tail light assembly back into the area of the antenna. Follow the wire back and unplug it. That's it...

IT'S EASY!!!

Just do it like I did...and take your car through an automatic car wash w/ the antenna UP...

When you come out of the wash...BINGO! No more antenna!

Sad to say, it is a true story. I got distracted by a woman.
It got torn off flush w/ the body, and the reception still comes in strong w/ aftermarket Pioneer CD head unit.

If you want to try it this way, may I suggest the wash at Exxon in Laurel, MD at route 1 and 198.

I just did mine; it worked! I did what maxspeed5 said. I decided to just take the jack holder and jack out since I had to take them out to access that area more easily. That should lighten up my car a bit along with taking the spare out too. Now, only if I had money to get me some lighter rims.

i'm pretty sure 4th gen and up have two antennas. The regular one and one on the back windshield that looks like the defroster. My friend shaved his antenna off and is only using the windshield antenna. Just to let you know in case you ever do want to listen to the radio
