99 Maxima Won't Start

I started my maxima after refueling, and it was okay for about a second before it stalled. It hasn't started since. Thinking my key could've demagnetized somehow, I tried the spare. Nothing. It cranks, but won't turn over.

Now it sits in a parking lot of a garage in WV. I was on the way back from camping, but 2.5 hours away from home, I got stranded. Hopefully the country folk at the garage can figure it out. In the meantime, I thought I'd ask for possible culprits here.

Fuel pump? Fuel pump regulator? Fuel filter? Solenoid?

Please help. I'm at the mercy of a truck shop in the boonies.

One of the crank position sensors most likely failed. It's one of the only sensors that can cause a crank with no start condition.

Welp

I'm having it towed to a Nissan dealer. 130 miles Nissan, w/o looking at it, thinks it's the immobilizer. I will work with them on disabling this part of the anti-theft system if this is the case.

Yea from the brief description, it sounds like the immoblizer. I dont think you can disable it. The chip in the key sends a signal to the ecu telling it the key is legit. I dont think you can switch an earlier year ecu in there either. Your kinda outta luck unless you want to get a new car.

Happened to me with my 99 and yes it was the immobilizer. Dealer reset keys and told me i did something to mess up the keys.....yeah right. The good news is it never happened again.

Big Surprise

It's the Engine Control Module. Whoa! And it's under warranty! Which is good, because after spending 400 on a motel, two tows and two mechanics, I couldn't take anymore.
