My 97 SE has an OE alarm, and while it is armed, if I pop the trunk by remote or button, it doesnt go off... is it disabled or is there no alarm on the trunk at all?

If you open the trunk legally (ie, not by force), the alarm wouldn't go off. It would sound kinda weird if the alarm goes off when you press the button on the remote.

I guess my alarm is retarded because my alarm does go off if I pop the trunk with the remote. I have to unlock the doors first, then pop the trunk. Can anyone think of a way of fixing this?

Hmmm...that's wierd. Do you mean that the alarm goes off when you open the trunk with the remote keyfob, or the remote switch on the drivers door? If you open it via the switch on the door, then the alarm will go off. It should not go off if you use the remote control.

Yup, the trunk opens with the remote when I press the trunk button on the remote, but then the alarm still goes off. I can only turn it off with the door unlock button.

The latch mechanism has a switch located inside, check to see if it operates properly. I believe the switch also works the trunk light.
