I opened them up and used them for literally 10 minutes. Just had to bend a piece of hot plastic on the turn signal area.

Araffio,

Wow, that look good.....would you like to tell me how much resistor did you use to get the correct resistance for the turn signal and reverse lights. I want to change the bulbs to LED on my gen 2 Altezza taillights.
THanks
Eric

It's hard to tell from your pictures, but do you still have reflectors in the rear?

Yes I do. The reflector is actually part of the red lense on the outter tails, still very legal

2.5 Years of engineering school wasted for me. Why didn't I try to build this instead of wasting time on stupid robots and houses. This is awesome. I think it would be greately appreciated if you can give a brief scematic and maybe some inside pictures of the tails so we can see what is involved or maybe a sketch if you have one? If I can get all the information this is something I could consider in trying myself and in the future for others as well.

I understand if you were trying to keep it a secret because you wanted to make it for profit, however, you clearly indicated you had no interest to do so. This is a community where we share information or at least that’s what I always believed it was. If you don't want to help fine. I can assure you, you won't be the only one. You are just making it more difficult for others and at the same time being egotistic.

I have a feeling CM won't take up this deal that easily. It's sweet though but still not legal.

Tony, I didn't see the 'legal' sidemarker lit up or the reflectors (perhaps the pics don't show it?). If you're gonna crack that open again, you might want to make it more 'legal' to reduce the risk of getting pulled over.

Or am I paranoid?

Yes, you're being paranoid. These are no more illegal than regular red/clears with the sidemarker removed (99% have it removed). The outter tails have reflectors as part of the lense, it cannot be removed because it is not a separate piece, its integrated in the way the lense is made. Take a look at yours and you'll see.
Besides the sidemarkers, these are fine. Honestly I could give a **** even if they are illegal. They look 10x better than any other Maxima taillight available, they light up red, have legal brake lights and do they're job. If a cop wants to ticket me for them, I'll slap on my set of spare regular tails and go to the precinct the next day to have it written off as fixed.

Don't be such a weeney....

I'm not crying about it. I contacted my uncle who is an electrician and some friends from engineering as well as my friend who installs lighting on cars like strobs, neon-kits, switches etc... Once I get this rolling with some time since I'm a bit busy I can probably do this within 3-4 weeks. I'm just looking for a spare housing to use for measurements detial etc...

I thought I posted this, he said $600 that works out to less than $10 per hour he could probably get rich faster by working part time at burger king, the time it takes isnt worth it to produce them, people have a hard time coughing up more than $40 for clears I dont see many people paying $600 or more for tails
