My baby left me....

My baby has a new home now. After being in autotrader for a little over a month I finally had someone call (that wasn't 5 states away) to come and see my baby. We met up today and I let him drive it down a curvy road about 15 miles away from my place. He was doing fine, enjoying the ride, then I got annoyed and said "Let me show you how it's done"

Nothing crazy, just took him through the turns faster with precision. After that, he was sold.

I was sad at first but I know it was time for her to go. Maybe I will get a newer one later down the road.

Heres some pics of her to remind me of better days.....

i got a new(er) vehicle as a gift (looong story...)

and my car had high mileage and the reliability was becoming questionable.

134k

Mods: Y-pipe, intake, AGX/Sprint, catback, FSTB, etc. etc. nothing special...

i sold it as-is

Maxima is a good, or let's say reasonable-looking car for 5 grand. Looks impressive. It's the dam maintenance that it needs at that age that completes the saying you get what you pay for. DIY and you're set. TAke it to the Nissan dealer and it's no bargain whatsoever.

Trevor lives in Independence, Missouri (northeast Kansas City)....the "Meth" capitol of the world Ironically, Trevor seems to be the only guy in Independence that doesn't have a Camaro/truck and a mullet.

Dave

i read somewhere that the only reason independence is rated so high is because the police force cracks down on it more than any other state. (don't we have a special task force JUST for meth labs?)

besides, i live right on the city line and i'm closer to Blue Springs

hey trevor,

I took this off your site...where did you get these numbers?

"In stock form, Nissan's VQ engine produces 190hp and 205tq. Thats roughly 152fwhp and 164fwtq. Because of my full exhaust setup (Warpspeed y-pipe to custom b-pipe and catback) and intake I am now making 178.3fwhp and 190.1fwtq. That's 214hp and 228tq! So I have gained 24hp and 23ft-lbs of tq just from intake and exhaust"

If this is verified I will be posting it on my site if you dont mind.

I also have an underdrive pulley. So I should have the same crank HP but like 5 more wheel hp right???

and i know every car is different and every day is different ...just trying to get a round about idea....

i got those numbers by subtracting 20% drivetrain loss.

post it wherever you want

i'm not sure about the gains from a UDP though...

At least its not an H2.

Sorry. A little humor from the Jeep forum.

Good luck with it. At least you won't have any trouble in the snow.

son of a bltch! i just had this all typed up then got the "server is busy at the moment" message and lost everything!

basically, i had a lot of problems with the maxima in the last year.

ACT bent my TO bearing and failed also causing the slave and master cylinders to fail.

At the same time, my CV boots started tearing (normal wear at 130k+ miles)

then i put a power inverter in the car and it fried something in my ignition system so the car wouldn't start.

after $600 worth of labor all i had fixed was a fried ignition switch because the mechanic couldn't find what was wrong.

i finally ended up giving the car to a friend of my parent's friend and he fixed it for another $200 bucks after a few weeks.

anyways, over $1500 in a matter of 3 monthes is way more than i could afford so i ended up borrowing from my parents.

at the same time my grandparents were looking for a new vehicle (bought an H2 actually...haha cuzzinolaf )

they decided to give me the montero so i would have something more reliable with less miles for when i go away for my last 2 years of college next fall.

that about sums it up!

$5000 is doin pretty good for 134k. Sorry it had to go. The problems didn't sound *too* bad and perhaps avoidable, but at least you got something w/low mileage on it now, and for free...sweet deal. Though I don't know off-hand if I'd sell the farm on mitsu SUV reliability, but what do I know? Make the g-parents pay for it if it ever needs non-warranty work

What are you gonna do with the $5k?
