Donating members can use the search function. Non-donating members cannot

No, it's so that people can acutally use the site instead of it being busy and getting the "page cannot be displayed" ... Saves bandwidth

it doesn't really matter for most n00bs anyway. they post before they search, therefore the search function is useless to them. so the mods disabled the search function to save up some bandwidth for the sake of other members.

donating members are more experienced and knows how to search before they post any questions, therefore the search function is enabled for the donating members.

i doubt the search function will be available for you non-donated members until you guys start to search before you post... which i believe it will never happen anyway. mind as well just disable it.

The server was getting killed because of search is very CPU intensive and you couldn't even post most of the time. Disabling the search limits the load on it and it makes the server run tons faster. People who have donated can still search.

And for those of us that DO use the search function and have YET to donate, it's quite the marketing tool and incentive to get out there and donate!
