Maxima Hub/Bearing

I've been hearing this clicking noise when braking and turning right at the same time at low speed. I also hear a bit of a grinding noise sometimes when braking at low speed. Dealer had a look and said my car needs a new hub/bearing. Estimate is $500. I have 52,000 miles on my 2001 Maxima GLE.

Is this normal? By the way, I've been hearing this noise ever since they rotated my tires last time.

Also, is the estimate reasonable for this kind of job?

Thanks.

Take it to a muffler / brake shop and get a second opinion. Hubs usually don't grind but bad brakes do.

It will grind if it is really damaged. Jack up the car and push on the tire without a lot of force. If you feel there is play, your bearing and hub is shot.

Your bearing or hub can easily damage if you hit a bump!! depending on the road that you take, it can wear out quite easily!!!

When bearing is shot or start to be damage, you car will grind only when taking a turn(braking increase to sound in most case), the outer wheel in the turn is the damage one!!!

I've don't check it, but does Maxima have a pressed bearing??

If it's the case only the bearing need to be change not the complete hub!!!

it is a pressed bearing separate from the hub....they do not come packaged together from the dealer...i replaced the fronts on mine a while back...it was not hard and the instructions from www.motorvate.com helped out a lot.

Does anyone know where i can find those instructions from motorvate.com?
Or can I buy these days a hub with a bearing already pressed in for the front passenger side?
