question on 5spd swap...

ok doing reasearch on 5 spd swap and i want to know if anyone out there also swapped their ecu to a five speed ecu.

what exactly did you have to do. did you have to splice any wires???? or did you just plug the auto harness?

i have a 99 maxima and when i decide to do the swap im gonna have to swap the ecu at the dealership so i can have to key programed.

The ECU swap was the easiest part of the whole thing...unplug the auto one...plug in the 5 speed one. DONE!

You might want to take a step back and understand that you have a 99.5 and in 99 alone they made over like 15-20 different ECUs. Better make DAMN sure you gettting the right one, other you can do some damage.

I dont know if your 99.5 has a coded key, but I think they did, if so, this aint going to work cause you have to get the NVIS reprogrammed.

uhhhhhhhhhhhh uh-no so what is the best way to figure out which ecu i sould get. i got an ecu already how would i go about checking if i have the right one or not. i was not aware that there were that many ecu for a 99.5. when i had the parts guy look up a 99 ecu for my car there were 4 choices at/mt fed and at/mt cal. can you tell me where you heard this from so i can do more reasearch.

i can get the key programmed but i would need to install the 5 spd ecu at the dealership before i go into service to have the key programmed.

thanks

Frank, if you have any questions, give Jon at Finishline a call he has done MANY and would be more than happy to help.

When he did mine he swapped wiring harnesses and ECU, that was the easiest.
