The switch should be fine...

Other then draining out the old and replacing it with
new synthetic everything should be fine.

There are synthetic blends of half & half so I would not worry about the change.

Don't use 0W30. Stick with 5W30. Don't use heavier grade of oil on a newer car.

Re: The switch should be fine...

Be careful about the blends. Some of them are only 5% synthetic. Make sure it shows a high percentage of synthetic. I'm now using Mobil 1. Since I change my own oil, it's roughly the same as paying someone to change it with dino oil. Anyone know where to get Mobil 1 cheap?

Either go 100% synthetic or 100%->

dead dino juice. Blends are a waste of time IMHO. Remember if you use Mobil 1, it's not designed for extended drain intervals so don't run it any longer than you would a dino oil.

I thought you were supposed to change out synthetic oil

every 5-6K miles as opposed to 3K with the dino oil. I heard that you don't get the benefit of synthetic oil if you change it out every 3K miles.

Answers to the questions....

Stick with 5W-30...no need to risk the VQ unless ambient/environmental conditions insist....

As for the engine flush/synthetic/etc. visit this post (which, BTW, is one of Jeff92se's favorite posts)
