That is why it amazes me the amount of racing threads that pop up in here. People just don't learn. Racing threads should be immediate bannage.

well if this guy wasnt going that fast (if that was the case) he might be alive today? if a building is burning down and you run into you have more of a chance dying than if you stayed outside, I understand about living life and such cause were all gonna die but theres being safe and being stupid

Exactly, stock suspension/modded or not 9 times outta 10 its not going to make a difference. All cars become different beast at high speeds.

That street where the incident occured is notorious for street races. Yet it seems like there's not enough police patroling that area. Roads and streets are for commuters, the track is for the races.

Driving stock or modded Maxima at an excessive speed/racing on the street = stupid

Driving stock or modded Corvette Z06 at an excessive speed/racing on the street = stupid

Keep it on the track, please.

i kind of agree with sprint here. anything you do can be stupid if you dont know your limitations. aparently he didnt. all we can do is hope that the man driving has learned from his mistake.
i have done some stupid **** in my car, but you dont realize how dumb it was til after you did it. unfortunatly in cases like this, you really cant go back and reflect, now that a life has been lost.

i guess all you can say is... be smart, and do your best to judge what your limitations are. prayers for the girls family and also for the guy, although it was his fault, i cant imagine the guilt that will be hanging over his head for the rest of his life.

**** happens and the life goes one. Gota agree with Sprint here. IF you dont know ur limitations then dont risk it. Modified max handles like a dream at 140+ no questions asked :-D

... and the life goes on..

I wish people would think first .. but to err is human.

p.s.: Driving on gravel road and taking a turn is not good either, oversteered just last weekend.

Sure, hindsight is also 20/20 and Confucius say pot call kettle black on forum til sun go down. I'm probably twice the avg. age on this forum as I'll be 30 in 2 more years. People I know who have kids are truly scared and in their late 20's they already use a phrase, "kids today." I don't think imho that human nature has changed since I was a kid and my great grand-dad had that gleam in his eye. Only our means of expression has. I mean the avg 3rd grader has a cell, pager, HDTV 16:9 and wears colored bracelets. I say do what makes you happy but always use your good judgement.

a friend of mine lives in texas and he always talks about how he wishes he had a sub 13 sec car to own that "Westheimer " ( where this accident happend). he is 17 and he always talks about how Westheimer could be his if he had a 03 cobra or trans am ws6 or some evo or any car that has 0-60 of sub 5 sec. he is just a kid who is in need for speed. he shows me vidoes of people racing on Westheimer and im tellin ya, it doesnt surpirse me to see a lives lost on that street. the **** has 8 lanes total. its like a freeway. straight road like a track, 4 lanes each way and red lights within miles of each other from what i have seen. perfect for racin/losin ur life. something has got to be done about Westheimer . i myself have read tons of race stories gone bad at Westheimer ! its just sad......

You know what, I personally hope that if that person is a member here, that he gets banned. He just took a life because of a stupid mistake, and then lies about it. How in the hell can someone go "too fast" and then go thru all that ****?>

oh well...i dont think that is a real concern. after taking someone elses life, being rejected by a whole community of people would probably put him over the edge. also, man slaughter, speeding, street racing, reckless driving....he's in jail for a long time. why dont you stop worrying about that part

Investigators said the driver woke the family, borrowed a knife, and then tried to cut the 25-year-old passenger out of her seatbelt to pull her from the car. She died at the scene, officials said.

That's the saddest part of the whole story... Too bad it's ALWAYS the passenger that gets the worst of it... I don't put all the blame on the driver though as bad as it may sound, sometimes it's 2 idiots or more in the car egging on the driver to race... If you're going to race on the streets at least take it to a remote highway where there's nobodys backyard to roll into... It's too bad that street racing is one of the only ways to race in some places where there's cops waiting outside of the track to hand out tickets to everyone...

Yeah, there are plenty of dead reasons to ban people from posting crap about racing on the streets. I don't care what the reasons are for people modding their cars. Take the s.h.i.t to the track if you are going to race. Period. It is not 'the cool thing to do'. There is a difference between not driving like a granny and racing.

This sucks, but sprint is right, know your limitations. I can't imagine losing a passenger in my car. I would die and hope to be dead as long as I lived. I had a chance of running an RSX today, but once that fool started cutting through cars like they weren't there, I shut down. I knew better. Let's face it guys, Common sense isn't common knowledge to everyone

In Toronto cops waited outside the track and handed out tickets for people that took their racing to the track... Luckily i wasn't there!
