Starting problem after I swapped ECU's.

My 97 was originally an auto and it was swapped, but the auto ecu was left in. I went to pass inspection and I have to clear the check engine light in order to pass. So I bought a 5 speed ECU, I pulled the auto ecu and plugged in the new 5 speed ecu. I have all my lights BUT the check engine light is not on when you turn the key in the on position. Now the car just turns over but will not fire off, just *vuvuvuvuvuvu* I plugged the old auto ecu in and it does the same exact thing, no check engine light and just turning over but not firing. I pulled the hose off the fuel filter and tried turning it over and it is getting no fuel. I pulled the fuel pump all the way out and hooked it to the battery charger and it is spinning and running. Now there has to be a reason it is not getting juice to the fuel pump. I use a test light on the two harnesses and could only get on prong out of 8 to light. So for some reason it is not getting any juice now. Is there any wire that goes into the ECU that might of gotten pulled? Also, why isnt the check engine light coming on? even with the old auto ecu? Does the car have to run for it to read or something?

Thanks,

I always tell people to check that the connector is tightly fastened to the ECU. When I tested my 96 ECU, the car wouldn't start until I made sure the connector was fastened properly.

as long as you screw the bolt in all the way right?

oh and that fuse john jumped i think he opened it up and bent the piece on metal over.

you sould clearly see that there is a fuse that just does not look right.

either that match up the colors of the fuse.

He said when it is hooked in to the computer for the check that with OBD2 it will fail with any problem, this coming from my "hook up" he did tell me to bring him another 97 and pay $150 and he would pass me,that would been easy, but for $140 I got the ECU and fixed a problem.

Frank, I did notice that one, I will replace it tonight, I wasnt too sure, the fuse was the same color also. I did screw the bolt in all the way

I am going to try and hotwire the fuel pump like nupe500 said to do. Basically wire it into the ignition so when you turn it on the fuel pump constantly runs, hopefully this works. Anyone ever done this?
