Why Can't I Search?

Okay guys, I'm getting tired of seeing this in my PM box. I've fended off at LEAST fifteen of these today alone.
Please read the Site Announcements Forum.

If you can't seem to find the very top forum on maxima.org, then here's the link for you:
http://forums.maxima.org/showthread.php?t=268739

It's a simple as that. It says pretty plainly that the search has been disabled when you try to use it. I can't do anything about it. Neither can Jeff, Bill, Chris, Sprint, Clee, mzmtg, Tim, Shing, etc etc etc etc. As soon as the computer geeks that run this place figure things out, then they'll turn it back on.

Please stop filling all of us mods' inboxes with questions about it. Jane said it VERY clearly in the post in the Announcements Forum.

I've seen the messages that say that there is a technical problem that is preventing searching.

Whatever it is, is it possible to organize a donation drive to get it fixed? Or is it really more of a bandwidth issue? If so, could that be solved the same way?

There is so much valuable information in the forum that cannot be accessed now.

This is not meant to be a criticism - just an attempt to find a way to get the search feature to work again.

Yeah, seriously. I'm still confused too. There's no clear answer, the search says I need permission. To get permissions, I need to donate. To donate, I have to wait because someone is too busy to accept donations. Then some posts say the seach is down.

When will this madness end? Is it too hard to get a clear concise answer out of anyone?

Hey guys, new here. I'm a web developer, if you need some help let me know. vBulletin is about the easiest thing in the world to set up. This site seems to have an active, growing community but unfortunatly I can't deal with not having a search on a forum. If you guys fix it please email your member list to notify us. I'll be back when it's working.

Tried donating, and couldn't.... And I "really" need the search option ><
It takes too much time searching every thread on here for answers to my questions. I'm sure people get tired of having the same questions answered over and over... should enable the search option to everyone, it'll help people who do their research, and will stop from having same common threads with the same questions and problems. Thus taking up less space cause of less threads.

I'm a new member so please excuse my using this space for this question but I need help and I keep getting the same automatic reply.

How do I post a message?

I read the announcement by Doug about Users under 15 posts are not able to use the Private Messaging Feature or able to create new threads.

I would be a donating member but, the only option I can find to subscribe is via Pay Pal which I do not want to use. A couple of emails asking if there is another option have gone unanswered.

Althought not as flexible, Google is always available. Just put "site:forums.maxima.org" to limit your search to the Maxima forums site.

Here's an example:
http://www.google.com/search?as_q=to...ums.maxima.org

Hello everyone, I just became a member after buying an 00 SE yesterday. However, the inability to search is already becoming very inconvenient. I also own a Z and a 200sx se-r (hence I am their member too) but have not seen this problem anywhere else. May I use the above suggestion and ask the forum owner/moderator that why can't they embed the above search string in the search button "lights site:forums.maxima.org". Using the word lights as an example search string. thank you.

I think they just want us to come up with more questions keeping the forum lively and not allowing to find answers simply by the search metod.
