Help, what happened!! Stall, no start, start, smoke ...
#1
Had my car sitting today. And I started it up. Usually. I turn the key.. Wait for the ABS light to turn off so I know the fuel pump is primed and ready and I start the car. Today I didn't. I just turned the key. The car started.. studdered.. then stalled. I tried to start it after that and no go.. it wouldn't start. I tried 4 times. Then I turned the key and gassed it. Tie car started with a huge puff of bad smelling smoke. The car seems to idle fine. I didn't drive it. I just moved the car into the driveway where it is now. What the hell happened?? Should I be worried. Is it vapor lock? This happen to anyone else?

Sounds like you just dumpes some extra fuel into the cylinders. You probably should have let it run to get it up to temperature and to burn the raw gas off of the spark plugs.
Vapor lock hasn't occured since the '50's. In the old days when it got hot outside gasoline would "boil" in the fuel lines, causing vapor lock. The oil refineries got smart, they now produce summer and winter gasolines. Summer gas has a lower vapor pressure than winter gas, so it has a higher boiling point.

I don't know what color the smoke was. It was night. The car seems to run fine now and start fine. I just went out and started it again and it started. So I hope its okay. The smoke just smelled bad. I can't really describe it. Maybe its time to change the plugs and do little maintainance things.
