Dont know what happened to my thread

Started my tranny swap today on my 95 maxima. I am taking stuff apart very fast I notice one of my fans is broken. Great, thats not a cheap part. 55mins later the big POS auto tranny is dropped. I removed the flywheel and the left passenger side acces to cover to turn the motor to access the 14mm bolts that bolt onto the flywheel. As I am turning the motor for my brother I notice all this nasty ****. Is a freaking oil leak coming from the upper oil pan. After removing the flywheel same thing on the other side. Lucky I have a hoist to support the engine. My completion to this project was 1.5 days. It is now a week long project since I have to order these seals which cost $21.00 each at the dealer or I can pay $7.00 from one of these dealers that give us discounts. Fans Ill get those from carpart.com. Thats our home site!

doing a 5 spd swap with no directions. Lets see how long that lasts may need them to make my reverse lights work.

I done the tranny part not the pedal, clutch pedal, and master cylinder. Those are the only three items I dont have directions for. I am assuming they are direct bolt on. Bijan, Id call you but dont know how busy you are. You also change phone numbers to your cell like the dirty draws. I think I am back in the game. Towncenter Nissan has the two seals. Regardless I have to rip off a bunch of crap to get to the upper oil pan. It has to come out

The brake pedal is just a bolt on, but you obviously know that you have to drill holes to be able to mount the master cylinder as well as the clucth pedal. Assuming that you have all that stuff...which I'm sure you do...enjoy!

 

Update, all day today I took apart the upper oil pan. Replaced the rear main seal and front and rear seals. Dixit came by and inventoried all the BSh!t I bought for my car from that junkyard. The junkyard sold me nothing but bullsh!t. The parts are all hacked up and bent and broken WTF!

Thanks nupe, Ill be working on it tomorrow nupe, Ill be assembling the pedals and the master Cylinder and do the rods and shifter last since the **** is fcked up. I am very pist off.

BTW if you EVER change the valve cover, use perma gray where the FSM calls out or else It LEAKS

 

If you can swing by for a couple that would be great. Lets see how much I can get done by myself since my little brother is leaving to california tomorrow. Ill see what I can salvage off the parts that this yard sold me. Valve cover I am not doing. This car got redoned completely. I just felt like dropping another engine. Today the engine hoist came in mighty handy. I got my two times of usage out of it think I am ready to do another engine swap on another max next!

 

Another swap on another max?? Errrr......the 95? How far are you w/ the tranny as of today?

installed the brake pedal, complete bolt on. Eric came by and drilled the hole for the master cylinder. Perfect holes! Nissan did not send me any parts so I had to go buy some seals for the tranny. Today I will bolt everything up except the shifter assembly and tranny should go on as well. I am going to use a stock disc and ACT Pressure plate. Dont know why but thats all I had available to me since I can t blow any more cash on this project

Never did car is almost done. It would have been done if the rod bracket was not broken Working on it two hours at a time didnt really help since my kid loves to mess up my tool set up.

 

What's the status of the project??

 

Jaime almost done, I went there last night after the carshow and basically all he got to do is bleed the clutch and install the shift support rod, one part is broken which he needs to get from the dealer.

status of the project, shifter went thru the car broken bracket. I just finish firing it up and it fired up and went into gear. No Y pipe or O2 sensors. Sounded like a Mustang. I got it into 2nd or 4th gear dont know which one and the axle was spinning. Thats good news right there. Shifter Rod support bracket is on order next day air. If they cant get it guess what I am going to do? I will measure the rubber square and cut a piece of wood and it will work and my shifter will stay in place ghetto but had dream of a quick solution!

 

Awesome Jaime, I was gonna stop by, but since my Max is down, I had no other vehicle. That is good to hear. Any idea on the position of the shifter yet? (too far forward/backward). Anyways, great job.

 

no not yet, the bracket that holds the shifter is broken remember? If its a bit too back then it will get bent back into place

 

did you use a spacer on the master cylinder?

 

Yeah I spaced it with 17MM nuts that go to the top of the struts and one thick washer. Freebees , brake pedal is the same height as the clutch pedal.

 

You have one thing holding up the victory dance.....shipping or getting items during this time of the year is terrible. I hope the support bracket comes in...keep us posted

 

Parts guy called, major back order item. Okay! chunk of wood here I come. Ill fabricate one. I want to drive this car I just converted.
